Standard & Poor's Global predicted that the tourism sector in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region would be hit hard by the ongoing war in Gaza, especially in neighboring countries such as Lebanon, Egypt, and Jordan.

The report showed that the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region was the only region to recover in the tourism sector from the Covid-19 pandemic, with the number of visitors increasing 20 percent year-on-year in the first seven months of this year compared to 2019 levels, according to estimates by the United Nations World Tourism Organization.

The tourism sector accounts for 12 to 26 percent of the current transaction revenues of the three countries as a source of foreign currency as well as employment.
